Biography

International concert artist Juliette Hurel is Principal Flute of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, and a Professor at the Rotterdam Conservatoire (Codarts).
Taking the First Flute Prize at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP) and many other awards at leading competitions, she was nominated as ‘New instrumental star soloist of the year’ at the 2004 Victoires de la Musique Classique, and is today considered among the top-flight flautists of the international musical scene.
Sought-after worldwide, she has appeared at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Wigmore Hall in London, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Suntory Hall in Tokyo and the National Concert Hall of Taipei. She pursues a solo career with all the main French orchestras, as well as with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional of Colombia, Metropolitan Orchestra of Montréal, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Hong Kong Sinfonietta. She is passionately committed to contemporary music, having given first performances of works by Pascal Dusapin (Io), Philippe Hersant (Chant de résurrection) and Bruno Mantovani (Love Songs).
Juliette Hurel is an enthusiastic participant in out-of-the-way projects, such as a words-and-music event staged together with Hélène Couvert et Julie Depardieu as an homage to Misia Sert, the 20th-century muse and artistic patron. Juliette’s highly-acclaimed discography explores a wide-ranging repertoire, from Bach to neglected women composers.
Juliette Hurel plays an 18-carat gold flute by Pearl.
