The two piano trios are both major works of Mendelssohn’s creative maturity. Hailed as ‘the master trio of our era’ by the German press of the day, no.1 (1839) was written by a composer who had just turned 30; yet, a mere six years later, Trio no.2 (1845) was already destined to be his last chamber work with piano. After a Brahms CD unanimously acclaimed by the critics, here is the Wanderer Trio once again at the peak of its art. This title was released for the first time in 2007.
