Excerpt:

More than 25 years after they were recorded, these interpretations of two Brahms masterpieces by 'Les Musiciens' still sound newly minted. It is true that the Piano Quartet no.1 and the Violin Sonata op.108 belong to that select list of works which have been constantly admired ever since their first performance. The former piece derives its specificity from its unusual instrumentation, a sort of 'expanded piano trio' (violin-viola-cello-piano); the latter owes its popularity to its simply inexhaustible melodic verve.

This title was released for the first time in 1981.
