Here we have one of the most ambitious recording projects of our time: to record the entirety of Johann Sebastian Bach’s music for solo keyboard. Or more accurately, solo keyboards! This would not be so extraordinary if the project were not undertaken by a single performer: Benjamin Alard. Organ(s). Harpsichord. Clavichord. Clavicytherium. Pedal harpsichord… Every type of keyboard known to and used by Bach, including a one-of-a-kind three-manual harpsichord and a legion of historical instruments which alone would earn this ongoing project an important share of its ever-growing fame.
