Né en 1912 à Margate en Angleterre, Alfred Deller enregistre pour harmonia mundi dès 1967 et jusqu'à sa mort survenue en juillet 1979. Devenus des best-sellers (Music for a While, O Solitude...), ces enregistrements ont enthousiasmé le public et marqué plusieurs générations de musiciens.
