Bruno Philippe, most recently a prizewinner at the 2017 edition of the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, already enjoys a high profile on today’s musical scene and appears widely in France and abroad with his chamber partner Tanguy de Williencourt. As Bruno Philippe explains in the booklet: ‘This programme was born of curiosity, a thirst for challenges and love for this repertory. Are there happier companions for a debut recording than Schubert and Beethoven? I think not!’ Listening to this disc, we too are convinced of the fact.
