Clavecins historiques

Historical harpsichords

Most harpsichordists play on copies of historical instruments because the originals remain rare and require a lot of looking after, along with significant restoration costs. Many recordings have been made on such lovingly reproduced copies...but in this section, you will discover the originals: those 18th-century harpsichords that managed to reach us not without some adventures, or even some miracles. These Ruckers, these Hass, these Blanchets are genuine treasures that bring us as close as possible to the sounds heard by Bach, Couperin, or Scarlatti when their music was played during their lifetime. So many colors!
