Biography

Daniel Harding is one of the brightest of a new generation of conductors.

He is Music Director of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Principal Guest Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, Music Partner of the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, and Principal Conductor of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. He just began this autumn as conductor of the Orchestre de Paris.

He is a regular visitor to the Dresden Staatskapelle, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, and the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala. Other guest conducting engagements have included the Bavarian Radio Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic, Orchestre National de Lyon, Oslo Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, Santa Cecilia Orchestra of Rome, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Frankfurt Radio Orchestra, and the Orchestre des Champs-Élysées. In North America he has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Chicago, Atlanta, Baltimore, Houston and Toronto Symphony Orchestras.

In opera, his recent engagements have included appearances at the Salzburg Festival, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, and La Scala in Milan.
