Paul Hillier

Biography

Paul Hillier is artistic director of The Theatre of Voices, which records regularly for harmonia mundi usa. From 2001 to 2007 he was principal conductor of the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, and he now directs the National Chamber Choir of Ireland, the Coro Casa da Musica (Porto), and Ars Nova Copenhagen. In 2006 he was awarded an OBE for services to choral music and in 2007 was honoured with the Order of the White Star of Estonia. He received a Grammy® for the Best Choral Recording (2007, Arvo Pärt: Da Pacem, HMU 807401) and his recent CD of David Lang’s The Little Match Girl Passion (HMU 807496) which received a Pulitzer for composition, won a 2010 Grammy® Award.
