Vienna, 1900

'Fin-de-Siècle Vienna: Politics and Culture' was the title of a remarkable book by Carl E. Schorske about the veritable magnet that the Austrian capital became on the threshold of the 20th century; the Vienna of 1900 is most often linked with the paintings of Klimt, Moser or Kokoschka and, naturally, with Sigmund Freud. But this 'secessionist' atmosphere, delicious and decadent, also attracted many composers, be it Gustav Mahler or Arnold Schoenberg ... inter alia.
