19th-century Romanticism and historically informed performance practice
19th-century Romanticism and historically informed performance practice - The use of period instruments in performances of the music of the 19th-century Romantic, post-Romantic, and even 20th-century composers is still a rare occurrence in the current concert-going landscape. However, this practice has gone beyond the experimental stage and has now made believers out of more and more performers and a growing part of the audience. At harmonia mundi, we are not attached to doctrine, only to musicians of great talent featured in this section: among our releases are recording by “historically informed” ensembles such as Pygmalion, the Freiburger Barockorchester, and Les Siècles, as well as symphony orchestras of the highest calibre.
