During the 1980s and ’90s, harmonia mundi experienced an unprecedented growth due to the global expansion of its activity (especially, in the number of recordings and releases, split between Arles, Los Angeles, and Barcelona) and the ascendance of musicians firmly allied with the label: William Christie, René Jacobs, Philippe Herreweghe.
